Spirits — and fascinators — were bright on Saturday despite the lack of sunshine at the 151st Kentucky Derby.
Though storm and rain clouds hung heavy Saturday early afternoon, the rain largely held off, pleasing Derby goers who had traveled from all over the world to partake of Kentucky’s largest historic and cultural event.
While sipping on complimentary Mint Juleps, attendees posed in front of the Twin Spires with family and friends — some with custom-made hats from as far as Nigeria and as close as Bardstown and Shelbyville.
