The Lexington Legends will open the 2017 season with a seven-game road trip before playing their home opener April 13 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Lexington’s minor league baseball team, an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will begin the season with four games at Charleston (S.C.) against the RiverDogs from April 6-9. Then come three games April 10-12 at the Greenville (S.C) Drive.

The Legends’ first home stand of the season starts with four games against the West Virginia Power from April 13-16 and concludes with three games against Greenville April 17-19.

The 2017 schedule features 14 home games in April, 10 in May, 14 in June, 18 in July, and 13 in Aug.. The schedule includes nine full weekends, when the Legends will be at home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Promotions such as Thirsty Thursdays, education days, fireworks nights, military appreciation, special nights for charitable organizations and others will be part of Legends baseball in 2017.

Game times and a complete schedule of promotions will be announced at a later date.

“We’re excited about the 17th season of Legends’ baseball in 2017,” said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea in a news release. “We encourage fans to make plans early, especially for group outings, and join us at Whitaker Bank Ballpark next season.”
