The Lexington Legends return home to begin a four-game series Thursday night against the Augusta (Ga.) GreenJackets at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Legends of May were not the Legends of April. Now, fans get to see what Lexington’s Class A baseball club has in store for the summer ahead.

Lexington lost six of its first 10 games this season and finished April 9-16. In May, the Legends bounced back with a 17-11 record.

Heading into June, the Legends stand at 26-27 and in fifth place in the South Atlantic League’s Southern Division, 6.5 games behind the first-place Greenville (S.C.) Drive.

Lexington has a chance to start June off right. Augusta, an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, is mired in last place in the Southern Division at 14-34.

Augusta took all three games from the Legends when it visited Lexington April 24-26, but it’s been mostly downhill from there for the GreenJackets. The Legends won three of four in Augusta when the teams last met May 13-16.

The GreenJackets bring a four-game losing streak to Lexington, having just been swept by Tim Tebow’s Columbia (S.C.) Fireflies.

Game times this weekend are 7:05 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 6:35 p.m. Saturday and 6:05 p.m. Sunday. After a day off Monday, the Legends head out for a seven-game road trip to Columbia and Hickory (N.C.).

Promotions this weekend at Whitaker Bank Ballpark include 3-D fireworks shows Friday and Saturday nights.
