Eastern Kentucky University junior forward Jackson Davis will travel to Spain this summer to play in a series of goodwill basketball games.

From Aug. 10-18, Davis — a native of Lexington — will travel with a team comprised of fellow college basketball players to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia.

The team includes players from the Big 12, Atlantic 10 and Big East, and it will compete against some of the top club teams in the country.

The trip is sponsored by Global Sports Academy.

Davis transferred to EKU from Butler in the spring of 2016 and had to sit out last season under the NCAA’s transfer rules.

Davis was one of the top prep players in Kentucky at Lafayette High School. He was named first team all-state and one of seven finalists for Kentucky’s “Mr. Basketball” award following a senior season in which he averaged 24.6 points, 13.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.

Davis wrapped up his high school career as Lafayette’s all-time leader in points (2,343), rebounds (1,372) and blocks (321).

He is expected to be a key player for the Colonels in 2017-18.
