Where to watch, how to follow the 2020 NFL Draft

The original plan for the 2020 NFL Draft involved the bright lights of Las Vegas.

With the former Oakland Raiders set to begin play in their new Vegas home in 2020, the National Football League was taking its annual draft of college players to The Strip.

As with so many other things in American life, the coronavirus pandemic and the efforts to contain it have led to a dramatic change of plans.

So the 2020 NFL Draft will be a virtual affair.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will announce first-round picks from the basement of his house. Teams will also draft from home.

Rather than inviting top prospects to a green room and interviewing draftees on stage after their names are called, the NFL and its media partners are sending cameras to the homes of 58 top prospects.

Television coverage of the event will originate from ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn.

ESPN and the NFL Network will produce a shared broadcast. For the first three rounds, ABC will have its own unique production.

In terms of Kentucky-centric fan interest, ex-Lafayette High School star Jedrick Wills, after a standout career as an Alabama offensive lineman, is projected to be picked early in the first round. So is former Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton.

One of the most interesting questions of the draft will be how high ex-University of Kentucky star Lynn Bowden goes and what position the team that chooses the versatile playmaker projects his playing.

Ex-UK offensive guard Logan Stenberg is expected to be drafted.

Former Kentucky defense tackle Calvin Taylor and ex-UK wide receiver Ahmad Wagner and Western Kentucky wide receiver Lucky Jackson, another former Lafayette High School star, are hoping to hear their names.
