The VMI guard has 29 points. The Keydets are 14-of-26 from three-point land. But Kentucky leads 74-63 with 7:01 left. Reid Travis leads the Cats with 20 points.

VMI’s 5-11 guards nailed a three from the deep left corner for his sixth triple of the game. He has 21 points. UK leads the Keydets 63-46 with 13:14 left. PJ Washingtoh has 11 points and 12 rebounds for Kentucky.

Reid Travis returns wearing goggles

After being poked in the eye with two minutes to go in the first half, Travis re-entered the game shortly after halftime wearing goggles. He promptly scored to give UK a 56-40 lead with 16:40 left. We are now at the 15:31 TV time with the same score. VMI has made nine of 19 three-pointers in the second half.

Halftime: Kentucky 48, VMI 34

Thanks to an 27-11 advantage on the boards, UK was able to open up a 14-point lead at the half. VMI actually led 15-14, 18-16 and 22-20. Three-point shooting staked the visitors to the lead. The Keydets made their first six of nine from beyond the arc. After Bubba Parnham sank three free throws to bring VMI within 30-29, UK went on a 12-0 run for some separation.

PJ Washington nearly had a double-double in the first half as he hit intermission with 11 points and nine rebounds. Reid Travis scored 12 points before being poked in the eye or hit in the face with two minutes left in the first half. He was taken to the locker room. UK shot 41.7 percent the first half. VMI shot 41.4.

VMI’s Bubba Parnham led all scorers with 15 points in the first half.

The UK senior forward looked like he was hit in the face or poked in the eye on a drive to the basket. He was face-down for a bit before finally sitting up. He was able to walk to the bench and looked like he should be ok. Kentucky leads 45-32.

Kentucky on an 8-0 run for 38-29 lead at 3:36 TV time here in first half. Crashing the glass key to success. Taller Cats have 21-7 rebound advantage on Keydets. PJ Washington has eight boards in just 11 minutes.

VMI has made nine of 15 shots, including six of nine three-pointers. UK is 9-of-20 from the floor. The Cats have only four fouls, but Keldon Johnson and EJ Montgomery have two fouls each.

The Keydets are six-of-nine from behind the arc for an 18-16 lead over UK at the 11:46 TV timeout. Bubba Parnham, a 5-11 sophomore guard, has hit three rainbows for VMI. UK isn’t shooting poorly. The Cats are 7-of-15 from the floor and two-of-five from three-point range.

EJ Montgomery making most of first start

The 6-foot-10 freshman was included in the UK starting lineup for the first time. He joined Keldon Johnson, Immanuel Quickley, Tyler Herro and PJ Washington. Montgomery blocked a couple of early VMI shots. Johnson and Herro each hit three-pointers and UK leads the Keydets 8-6 at the 15:56 TV timeout in the first half.
