UNC professor says it could be 8 to 20 weeks before sports begin again

How long before sports crank back up?

It could be awhile.

Kate Murphy of the Raleigh News and Observer writes an interesting story about the University of North Carolina system saying that graduation ceremonies will not take place as planned because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In it, Murphy reports that Dr. David Weber, a professor of medicine, pediatrics and epidemiology and associate chief medical officer of UNC Health Care, spoke to the UNC System board members.

Weber said that by the end of next week North Carolina could see four times as many as the 160 current reported cases. He also said it would be four to 12 weeks before the number of cases peaked.

And according to Murphy, “Weber said he expects it will be eight to 20 weeks before places like restaurants, hotels and sports venues re-open.”
