Says bloodstock agent with coronavirus: ‘(It’s) like you’re suffocating to death’
Bradley Weisbord is a 34-year-old bloodstock agent and racing manager for Al Shaqab Racing who has had a hand in Kentucky Derby (Justify), Kentucky Oaks (Monomoy Girl), Preakness (Exaggerator, Justify) and Belmont Stakes (Creator, Justify) winners.
He was also infected with the coronavirus.
In a compelling post on his Twitter page, Weisbord described his weeklong ordeal with the disease in an effort to get people to, as he put it, “STAY HOME. STAY INSIDE. #FlattenTheCurve.”
“This virus is not a joke,” wrote Weisbord, who first thought he was developing a chest cold, but then could not get out of bed on Tuesday morning.
While in New York, Weisbord moved into his grandmother’s empty apartment to protect his wife and seven-week old baby. In his post, he described what the last eight days have been like, starting with the development of the infection, the ensuing symptoms on to now where, thankfully, he is on the mend.
A few things he noted:
▪ When the infection first developed, Weisbord did not have a sense of smell, which others have said is a symptom of coronavirus.
(Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert reported the same symptom after being tested positive.)
▪ Weisbord began running a fever on Wednesday, and when his doctor saw him that day, Weisbord’s oxygen level was 91 percent, whereas normal is 95 to 100 percent.
▪ Symptoms had exacerbated to the point where Weisbord said he felt like was suffocating — “Thursday night you start to think it’s better off to be dead.”
▪ By Sunday, his fever had disappeared, but Weisbord still had a terrible cough and trouble breathing.
▪ By Monday he had a stuffy nose, but “I would live with a lifetime cold rather than dealing with the respiratory issues.”
There’s much more detail in the post that accompanies the Tweet.
Be sure and check it out.
