Where did Kentucky rank in annual football poll of SEC sports information directors?
Kentucky picked up some summer love in the 76th annual Birmingham News post-spring practice SEC college football poll of the league’s sports information directors.
The men of Mark Stoops tied with the Tennessee Volunteers for second place behind defending national champion Georgia in the SEC East.
Overall, the Cats finished fifth in the voting, behind favorite Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M and Arkansas.

As for the poll’s All-SEC team, UK running back Chris Rodriguez was a first-team selection while offensive guard Kenneth Horsey was a second-team pick.
Alabama’s Bryce Young, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, was the first-team quarterback, as selected by the SIDs. Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker was the second-team quarterback.
Kentucky opens its 2022 season on Sept. 3 against Miami of Ohio at Kroger Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN Plus.
UK finished 10-3 last season, its second 10-win season in four years. The Wildcats went 5-3 in the SEC and defeated Iowa 20-17 in the Citrus Bowl.
