Sidelines with John Clay

College football games on television Saturday (Sept. 2)

Note: As of Saturday morning, a contract dispute continued to keep Disney-owned channels off Spectrum cable. Those channels include ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, the SEC Network and the ACC Network. With Kentucky-Ball State being telecast by the SEC Network, that would keep that game off of Spectrum, the main cable provider for Lexington.

We’ve got games. Lots of games. It’s the first real Saturday of college football. Welcome back.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any AP Top 25 matchups on Saturday. We must wait until Sunday for that. No. 5 LSU plays No. 8 Florida State in Orlando at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.

As for Saturday, there are some interesting games. One is No. 21 North Carolina versus South Carolina in Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. Another is West Virginia at No. 7 Penn State at 7:30 p.m. on NBC. A third could be Virginia versus No. 12 Tennessee at noon on ABC.

As for Kentucky, the Wildcats open with visiting Ball State at noon on the SEC Network. The broadcast team is Dave Neal, former Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason and Taylor Davis.

Kentucky and wide receiver Dane Key will face the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Kroger Field. The SEC Network has the telecast.
