The Big 10 gets an early start on conference play with a couple of Tuesday night matchups on the Big Ten Network.

No. 14 Purdue travels to Wisconsin at 7 p.m. The Boilermakers are 12-1. Butler is the only team to beat Purdue. Wisconsin is 8-5 overall and 6-3 at home.

Then at 9 p.m., No. 1 Michigan State travels to Iowa. The Spartans are off to a 13-0 start. Iowa is 9-3. The Hawkeyes have lost to Dayton (82-77), Notre Dame (68-62) and Iowa State (83-82). (On a separate note, condolences to Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, whose 90-year-old father recently passed away.)

If you look at Ken Pomeroy’s ratings, the stats guru actually rates Iowa ahead of Iowa State. Pomeroy’s numbers place Iowa at No. 17 with Iowa State at No. 19. Pomeroy has Michigan State at No. 5. Oklahoma is his No. 1.

Also, considering Kentucky travels to LSU next Tuesday night, you might want to check out Wake Forest at LSU on ESPNU at 7 p.m.
