College basketball on television: After taking down No. 1, West Virginia goes after No. 2
Mark Jones will handle play-by-play and Kara Lawson will be the color analyst as ESPN televises Saturday afternoon’s SEC game between No. 14 Kentucky and host Auburn at 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, after knocking off No. 1 Kansas on Tuesday night, No. 11 West Virginia travels to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the No. 2-ranked Sooners at 4 p.m. on ESPN2. The 1989 Kansas team was the last to beat a No. 1 and a No. 2 back-to-back.
Kansas will try to rebound from that loss to WVU when the Jayhawks play host to TCU at 2 p.m. on ESPN. TCU is 1-3 in the Big 12. Kansas is tied with Oklahoma for second at 3-1 behind 4-0 Kansas.
No. 3 Maryland will try and bounce back from its loss to Michigan on Tuesday. The 15-2 Terps will play host to Ohio State at noon on ESPN2. Indiana and Iowa are tied atop the Big 10 at 4-0. Maryland and Ohio State are each 4-1.
No. 5 North Carolina plays host to rival N.C. State in a noon game on ESPN. North Carolina is 15-2 on the season and 4-0 in league play. N.C. State is 10-7 overall, but 0-4 in the conference. Still, Roy Williams has reminded his Heels how the Wolfpack “whacked” UNC last season.
No. 6 Villanova travels to Georgetown at 1 p.m. on CBS. Villanova is 15-2 overall and leads the Big East with a 5-0 record. Georgetown is 4-1 in the conference.
