Applebee’s Grill and Bar on Richmond Road to close
Better get your endless apps before the end of the month: The Applebee’s Grill and Bar at 2299 Richmond Road will close, possibly as early as Aug. 28.
Manager Gary Felician said the restaurant lost its lease on the location in front of Southland Christian Church. Area director Carl Jones confirmed the restaurant will close but was unsure of the exact date.
Calls to the Lincoln, Neb., headquarters of RMH Franchising, which owns about 15 Applebee’s restaurants in Kentucky, were not immediately returned.
In 2013, Thomas & King in Lexington sold more than 80 Applebee’s Grill and Bar franchises to RMH. Applebee’s is owned by DineEquity, which recently reported that quarterly sales were down 4.2 percent and lowered its sales outlook for the second half of 2016.
