The Fayette County coroner identified the victim as Perryville resident Robert Myers, 56.
Myers, who was driving the vehicle that was hit from behind, was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner said the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.
The crash happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. in an outbound lane of Versailles Road at Man o’ War Boulevard near Clubhouse Lane, Lt. Jeremy Tuttle said. The wreck shut down Versailles Road near Man o’ War Boulevard overnight.
Speed is considered a factor in the crash, police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said Wednesday.
Myers was the executive chef at the Lexington Country Club and also ran Dandelion Hollow Farm in Perryville, WKYT reported.
The Lexington Country Club kitchen staff set up a memorial dedicated to Myers in the kitchen on Wednesday. Myers was a big fan of sugar cookies and Ale-8-One, which the staff left out in his memory with candles and flowers, dining room manager Matt Mabe said.
