Man dies after shooting in downtown Lexington
A 27-year-old man has died after a shooting in downtown Lexington early Sunday.
James Augustus Blair died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday after being shot earlier in the day, according to the Fayette County coroner’s office.
Officers were called to the Chase Parking Garage at 201 East Main Street about 2 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shot being fired, according to Lexington Police. A few minutes later, Blair, who had a gunshot wound to the stomach, was dropped off by someone in a private vehicle at a nearby hospital.
Blair was transferred to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital where he died of his injuries, according to police.
A possible person of interest has been identified, but the investigation continues, according to police.
