She was getting her garbage cans after trash pickup. A driver didn’t stop.

A 46-year-old woman was killed when she was struck in a hit and run at her house while retrieving her three garbage cans near the road, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said.

Stevonn Page died of multiple blunt force injuries at the scene of the crash, according to the coroner’s office.

The house where the crash occurred is on Leestown Road near the Scott County line and across from University Club of Kentucky’s golf courses. The road was closed for the investigation.

Witnesses told investigators that a white SUV traveling outbound veered off the road and struck the woman. The SUV did not stop and continued toward Scott County, according to police.

Ginn said he was called to the scene at 12:21 p.m.

Police are identifying Michael Ray King, 47, of Winchester as being the driver in the crash. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid, according to police.

King was found and detained by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police, police said Thursday afternoon.
