Corrections officer accused of sexual abuse of female inmate
A Lexington man who was a former corrections officer at a women’s prison is accused of sexual misconduct with an inmate, Kentucky State Police said Thursday.
Demar Ison Jones, 30, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree official misconduct, state police said in a release.
On July 7, the state police post in Frankfort received a complaint about sexual misconduct from the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women near Peewee Valley in Shelby County. The complaint alleged misconduct involving a corrections officer and an inmate.
Jones was hired in February and his termination took effect on July 8, the day after he was interviewed by state police, said Mike Caudill, a public information officer for the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
Jones was lodged in the Shelby County jail. The jail website said Thursday morning that he remained there in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.
