Witness says man confessed to killing, dismembering Lexington woman

A witness told Lexington police officers that a man accused of killing a woman, dismembering her and throwing her remains into two Dumpsters admitted to the crimes, according to court documents.

Patrick Ryan Jones, 24, was charged Thursday with murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse after the remains of Haley Bourgeois, 20, were found near the Brookhaven Apartments on Malabu Drive. A not guilty plea was entered on Jones’ behalf Friday afternoon in Fayette District Court.

Early Thursday morning, police received a call from a witness reporting suspicious activity at the apartment complex on Malabu Drive, according to court documents. Those documents said the same witness told officers that Jones admitted to killing his former girlfriend, dismembering her and putting her in the Dumpsters.

Bourgeois and Jones had a child together, according to court documents.

Records also show that Jones and Bourgeois filed emergency protection orders against each other last September. The protection orders were dismissed in October.

Bourgeois’ children were not present when she was killed and are being cared for by family, according to documents.

Jones’ next court date is Aug. 1.
