Georgetown man charged with murder after 15-year-old girl killed at sleepover

Police have arrested a Georgetown man in the death of a 15-year-old girl shot early Saturday during a sleepover at a mobile home in Stamping Ground.

Family members identified the slain girl as Morgan Penn, a freshman at Scott County Ninth Grade Center, which is part of Scott County High School.

Police said Michael K. Davidson, 27, fired into the house, killing Morgan. He is charged with murder.

The shooting happened early Saturday. Police were called to the Parker Mobile Home Park at 4:46 a.m., state police said in a news release.

A caller to 911 gave police a description of a vehicle seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting.

Georgetown police saw the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver fled. Police chased the vehicle and arrested Davidson at the Capital Mobile Home Park in Franklin County, according to the release.

More charges will be filed against Davidson, according to the release.

Family members set up a GoFundMe page to try to raise money for Morgan’s funeral.

“She was 15, someone's baby girl, best friend, cousin, niece and a sweet girl,” the page says.
