Trey Lyles headed from Jazz to Nuggets in draft night trade
Former University of Kentucky star Trey Lyles was traded from the Utah Jazz to the Denver Nuggets during Thursday night’s NBA Draft in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Jazz sent Lyles and the 24th pick to the Nuggets for former University of Louisville guard Donovan Mitchell, who was the 13th overall pick.
“Want to say thank you to the Jazz organization/Coaches/Fans/Teammates for all the help and support and a great 2 years!” Lyles tweeted out after the trade was made official.
Lyles, who was drafted by Utah with the No. 12 pick in the 2015 draft, played for the University of Kentucky team that finished 38-1 after a loss to Wisconsin in the Final Four. The 6-foot-10 forward has averaged 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds while averaging 16.8 minutes a game over two NBA seasons.
