DeMarcus Cousins dominates in paint in Americans’ exhibition win
Former University of Kentucky star DeMarcus Cousins led the United States’ dominant performance on the glass with a game-high 15 rebounds in a 111-74 exhibition victory against Argentina in Las Vegas on Friday night.
The Sacramento Kings star also scored 14 points to go with two steals, one assist and one blocked shot as the squad prepares for the Rio Olympics. He was 4-for-6 from the field and 6-for-8 at the free-throw line.
The Americans outrebounded Argentina 53-30.
“Game 1 in the books on the road to get this gold,” Cousins said afterward. “Stick with us. We’re going to keep grinding, we’re going to keep getting better.”
Kevin Durant added a game-high 23 points, four rebounds and three assists for the U.S. Paul George and Carmelo Anthony had 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Next up for the United States is an exhibition game against China on Sunday in Los Angeles.
