Railbird Festival: Everything to know about tickets, parking, lineup and more

Railbird is returning to Lexington for the sixth time with headliners Tyler Childers and The Lumineers. The festival takes place on June 6 and 7 at The Infield at Red Mile.

Here’s what to know before you go.

Railbird lineup and schedule

Gates open at noon both Saturday and Sunday, and the first set of each day will begin at 1 p.m. The last set of each night will conclude at 11 p.m.

The lineup features country, folk and rock artists such as Mt. Joy, Ella Langley, Zach Top, Muscadine Bloodline and Waylon Wyatt.

Hazlett will open the weekend with the first set on Saturday, and Kashus Culpepper will kick off Sunday.

The Lumineers headline Saturday beginning their set at 9:30 p.m., and Tyler Childers will close out the festival Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. The full schedule detailing times and stage locations can be found on Railbird’s website.

Railbird ticket availability

Tickets for the festival were still available on the Railbird website as of June 1, though most packages have sold out.

Here are the tickets still available for purchase on Monday and what they offer:

  • 1-day general admission: All 16 musical performances for the chosen day, bourbon tasting for purchase at the Bourbon Hideout, and access to food vendors, bars, concessions and free water. A 1-day ticket can be used on either day of the festival. Cost: $175.
  • 2-day general admission: All 32 musical performances, bourbon tasting at the Bourbon Hideout for purchase, and access to food vendors, bars, concessions and free water. Cost: $284.
  • 2-day general admission + presented by Jersey Mike’s subs: All the amenities of a GA ticket in addition to upgraded and air-conditioned restrooms, GA+ Lounge access, dedicated food vendors for purchase, and GA+ hospitality staff. Cost: $435.
  • 2-day cabanas: All the amenities of a GA ticket in addition to VIP Lounge access, overhead fans, an elevated view of the main stage, dedicated festival entrance and a full-service bar in the cabana. Cost: $30,000.

Certain attendees and groups qualify for deals:

  • 2-day student tickets: Students and recent graduates can purchase a 2-day GA ticket for $275 in comparison to the current $284 price. All GA ticket amenities are included with the marked down price.
  • First responders and military: First responders and military can purchase a 2-day GA ticket for $275 in comparison to the current $284 price. All GA ticket amenities are included with the marked down price.
  • GA 4-pack: All GA ticket amenities are included with the group purchasing price.
  • GA 6-pack: All GA ticket amenities are included with the group purchasing price.

With the wristband included in the ticket purchase, attendees can leave and re-enter the venue as often as they please until 9 p.m.

Railbird parking

Parking passes through Railbird are sold out, but there are a number of parking options near the venue and around Lexington.

The University of Kentucky opened paid parking at four locations less than a mile from the venue off of Virginia Avenue starting at 10a.m. each day.

UK parking available:

  • Press Avenue North Lot
  • Leader Avenue Lot
  • Press Avenue South Lot
  • Press Avenue Garage

Attendees wanting to purchase UK parking ahead of time must do so before 11:45 p.m. of the night prior to the day they wish to park. Parking paid for in advance is $50 at all lots, and on-site parking purchasing is $75 per day.

Cash is not accepted at any of the locations, and overnight parking is not permitted.

Hourly paid street parking is available on Scott Street just about one mile from the venue. Hourly paid street parking is also available on S. Limestone just off of UK’s campus by the Main Building and Boyd Hall.

Homeowners and local businesses often open their parking lots and driveways for day-of parking on a first come, first served basis. Price varies by location.

Free bike parking is available near the festival entrance.

What can you take inside Railbird?

A small purse or fanny pack no bigger than 6 inches by 9 inches with no more than one pocket can be brought into the venue and does not need to be clear, according to Railbird. All bags bigger than 6 inches by 9 inches and smaller than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches must be clear.

No bag bigger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches is permitted. Hydration bags are permitted and are not required to be clear, but must be emptied prior to entry.

All bags are subject to search upon entry.

Baby strollers, blankets, basic point and shoot cameras, non-aerosol sunscreen, and emptied refillable water bottles are all allowed for attendees to bring into the venue.

In addition to the standard no weapons, fireworks or drugs policy, the following items are not permitted on the grounds:

  • Chairs
  • Coolers (medical exceptions apply)
  • Glass containers
  • Professional video and photo recording equipment
  • Drones
  • Hammocks
  • Flags
  • Outside food and beverage
  • Selfie sticks
  • Large chains or spiked jewelry

Lockers are available for purchase to store items you do not wish to carry with you throughout the day. Attendees using a storage locker are given a universal charging pack at check-in along with a $10 deposit to be refunded at the end of the locker rental period.

Available for single or 2-day purchase, lockers cost $25 for one day and $48.50 for two days.

Food options near Railbird

While food is provided at the venue for purchase, if you are coming to Lexington from out of town, you may be searching for breakfast before the festival or a late-night meal after the day ends.

Cook Out and Waffle House are around the corner from the venue on S. Broadway and are open late-night well past the final sets conclude.

DV8 Kitchen, also located on S. Broadway, offers breakfast and lunch options as early as 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
