Buffalo Trace plans new tourism, dining destination in front of its distillery campus
Buffalo Trace on Tuesday announced plans to add a new tourism and dining destination in front of the existing distillery campus in Frankfort.
According to the announcement, a spot that is now a BP gas station and convenience store in front of the Kentucky distillery on U.S. 421 and Fair Oaks Lane will be repurposed.
Buffalo Trace owns the property and the gas station will close in August.
“At Buffalo Trace Distillery we are always looking for ways to engage and inspire our visitors and residents of our local community alike,” said Sara Saunders, Vice President Buffalo Trace Distillery, in a news release. “As we look to the future, we’re committed to honoring the traditions of our 234-year history while also embracing change as we aim to invite even more whiskey lovers into our family. This exciting project does just that, and we are thrilled to be adding another quality dining and tourism destination for both Franklin County residents as well as the 400,000-plus guests from around the world who visit our distillery each year.”
According to the release, the new venue will showcase Kentucky Proud food and beverages. Few details were available and the specific plans are being finalized, according to the bourbon company.
The new tourism and dining destination is expected to open next summer, according to the company.
