Popular Lexington brewery opening another location with wood-fired pizza
A popular Lexington brewery is expanding into a new part of town and its taking the pizza along for the ride.
Mirror Twin Brewing Co., 725 National Ave., announced on social media that they will be adding a second location.
The new taproom, which also will serve wood-fired pizza from Rolling Oven just as the original taproom does, will be coming to 4379 Old Harrodsburg Rd. That’s the former location of the SEC Bar and Brick Oven Pizzeria.
The new location will serve their craft beers as well as cocktails, according to the post.
It will join Ramsey’s Diner, Tack House Pub, El Charro Mexican restaurant, Archa Nine Thai Kitchen and Freshie’s Ice Cream in the shopping center. That area has is just down the road from one of the city’s biggest developments recently, the Fountains at Palomar which has seen a lot of restaurant openings and is about to get even more.
Mirror Twin, which is owned by Derek deFranco and Mike Sobolak, opened in September 2016 on National Avenue. They make craft beer on site and have a popular taproom and beer garden.
It expanded to a second building in 2018 and added a bar, which was made famous by a cat, Cairo, then known as “the mayor of Kenwick,” the neighborhood nearby. (Cairo has since moved to Nashville with his human companions.)
In 2023, the brewery added a mead taproom across the street, but it closed after a year and is now an overflow and event space for the brewery.
