New-to-Kentucky steakhouse plans to open two Lexington locations
A new-to-Kentucky restaurant is planning to open two locations in Lexington.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is opening its first spot in the Hamburg area on Polo Club Boulevard near Costco, Cabela’s and the Baptist Health Hospital. There is no specific street address yet, but a spokeswoman said they hope to open by late 2025 or early 2026.
A second location is in the works for thePalomar area in 2026, she said.
Firebirds is based in Charlotte, N.C., and growing fast. The chain has 64 restaurants across the country and plans to open five more, including the Hamburg one, this year.
The menu includes steaks, ribs, chops, burgers, sandwiches, chicken, seafood, pasta, salads and sides as well as desserts. On weekends, brunch also is available.
Most things are cooked over an open flame.
“We take a lot of pride in our scratch kitchen, offering bold flavors and hand-cut, aged steaks and fresh seafood, which are cooked over an open flame visible from our dining rooms,” said Eleni Gates, senior director of communications.
“That fire is one of our main points of differentiation,” she said. “When we do open in Lexington, we’ll offer staples from our extensive lunch, dinner and weekend brunch menus and will feature our famed FIREBAR. This restaurant centerpiece offers Bar Bite features on weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m., along with the extended offerings and our signature cocktail, the Double Black Diamond Martini, which is an infusion of fresh pineapple and New Amsterdam Pineapple Vodka, garnished with a juicy fresh pineapple slice.”
Carryout and catering also will be available.
