Lexington Farmers Market moving indoors for the winter. Where and when to shop.
Lexington Farmers Market will have a new winter home this season. (Yes, the farmers market stays open year-round and yes, there’s stuff to buy.)
The market, based in Fifth/Third Pavilion at Tandy Park on Main Street, next to the Historic Courthouse, will be spending the coldest months indoors this winter.
Market director Josh England said the market board voted to move after the holidays into Greyline Station’s atrium area, formerly home to the Julietta Market, which moved out in 2023.
The market expects stay at the pavilion downtown through the end of 2024.
Greyline developer Chad Needham said he welcomes the market’s arrival in the new year.
“Greyline is excited to offer our large indoor atrium space to Lexington Farmers Market this winter,” he said in a statement. “We realize farmers grow fresh food year round and we think an indoor LFM will create a warm and vibrant market experience for all our local residents and current businesses. We are excited this collaboration is happening!”
The market, which has vendors selling seasonal produce, meats, cheeses, breads and other items, will be in Greyline at the corner of Loudon and North Limestone during January, February and part of March.
It will be open every Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The market will move back to Tandy Park after the St. Patrick’s Day celebration, England said.
The market also has Sunday sales on Southland Drive April through October; Wednesday evening sales on Alexandria Drive June through September; and Tuesday and Thursday morning sales on National Avenue from May through November.
