2 Suggins partners plan new restaurant: ‘It will be your neighborhood bar and grill’
When Shamrocks left the Hartland area this spring, many in the neighborhood bemoaned the loss of a local pub.
Now a new restaurant is coming to the spot at 4750 Hartland Parkway, Suite 128 near Kroger and other locally owned restaurants including Freshie’s Ice Cream & Soda Fountain, Common Grounds Coffee House and Pepper’s Mexican Grill.
Brad Scott and Bryce Steel, part of the team behind popular Chevy Chase restaurant AP Suggins, have leased the space with plans to open an as-yet-unnamed family-friendly restaurant. Jackson McReynolds, who also is a partner in AP Suggins, will not be involved in this new venture, Scott said. Instead, they will be joined by Scott’s son, Blake.
AP Suggins, as well as the team’s other ventures The Tulip on Romany and BLVD on Hays Boulevard, will remain open.
New restaurant’s menu like AP Suggins
Brad Scott said they are still finalizing plans for a name but that the new restaurant will be a variation of the AP Suggins, a longstanding Romany Road bar and grill that serves Southern comfort food in a casual atmosphere.
“It will be 80% Suggins’ menu, probably, with some spin on it. Some things that we want to do outside the Suggins’ menu,” Scott said. “It will be your neighborhood bar and grill ... Laid-back family dining in a great atmosphere. We hope to give the neighborhood something they will enjoy.”
He said they are beginning a complete remodel of the 4,700-square-foot space and hope to open in the spring of 2025 with seating for 145 people.
They plan to add a garage-style door to open up the front and keep a sizable bar area with TVs for watching sports.
They plan for the new restaurant to be open for dinner Monday through Friday and open all day on Saturday and Sunday serving brunch, lunch and dinner.
When did Shamrocks close, move?
Shamrocks, an Irish-themed sports bar known for its O’Round and Roethlisberger burgers, closed in May and moved to the Brannon Crossing area between Nicholasville and Lexington.
“Shamrocks was there for a long time and did a great job and now they’ve moved on. We feel like this fits our niche, neighborhood and families,” Scott said. “This fits right in our wheelhouse. And hopefully we can make everybody happy.”
