This will be the second Publix in Lexington; the first location opened on March 5 in the new Citation Point shopping center at 1952 Stockton Way.

How is Palomar Publix different than Citation Point store?

It’s bigger, to start. This store is 55,701 square feet, compared to with 46,791 square feet at the Citation Point store. While there are 16 aisles in both stores, the big difference is in the ready-to-eat side.

While both locations have delis and bakeries, the Palomar store’s are larger.

Palomar also has a Pours cafe serving beer (13 on tap and yes, you can sip and shop), coffee, tea, smoothies and acai bowls.

In the Pours cafe and in a separate upstairs area overlooking the store, there is customer seating with Wi-Fi.

Palomar will have a burrito bar where customers can get burritos, nachos and bowls made to order with a variety of proteins and toppings.

Made-to-order whole pizzas cooked from scratch, self-service pizza by the slice and made-to-order pasta and appetizers will also be available.

There’s a sushi bar, a soup bar, a hot bar and salad bar as well as grab-and-go pre-packaged options.
