Hendricks Commercial Properties announced May 15 that the Wisconsin-based company had purchased The Summit from Swift Creek Real Estate Partners and Centennial Real Estate Management LLC.

The sale of The Summit came seven months after another major Lexington shopping center sold: Hamburg Pavilion, the 106-acre development along I-75 and Man o’ War Boulevard on the east side of Lexington, sold in October 2024 for $135 million.

The Summit opened in 2017 on a former Fayette County tobacco farm; the property was assessed for at least $90.5 million.

The sale includes the portion that has Whole Foods, a variety of restaurants and retail shops, but not, apparently, the empty parcel along Man o’ War, or another empty parcel on Tiverton Way. The hotels and apartment building at the shopping center are also separately owned, according to David O’Neill, Fayette County Property Valuation Administrator.

There are now more than 60 street-level shops, nine restaurants, a luxury apartment community and Whole Foods grocery in the development.

Stores at The Summit include Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Apple, Ariat, Free People and Warby Parker. Restaurants include Ouita Michel’s Honeywood, J. Alexander, Shake Shack, Grimaldi’s Brick Oven Pizzeria, Condado Tacos, Blue Sushi Sake Grill and 33 Staves at the Origin Hotel.
