Is Lexington ready for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos-covered street corn? Because it’s coming.

Here come more tacos: Bandido Taqueria Mexicana restaurant has released an opening date.

The Louisville-based chain, which features Southern California-style street tacos, has been working on their location near the University of Kentucky campus since January.

The South Upper spot will have a grand opening on Sept. 25, according to owner Gerardo Ochoa.

Bandido had originally been set to open in the spring. But the opening had been pushed back by the restrictions placed on restaurants in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, which hit Kentucky in March.

The menu features street tacos, burritos, nachos, and street corn, including versions with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Doritos.

Breakfast burritos are available all day, and there are also Bandido Super Fries, with either grilled steak or chicken, refried beans, sour cream, guac, jalapenos and cheese.

Vegetarian and vegan options also are available.

The restaurant also has a salsa bar with 10 different options, so customers can add whatever they like to their food.

Other new restaurants in the CenterCourt building include Jump Start, a smoothie place that replaced Jamba Juice, and Bubble Tea Studio, a drinks spot.
