Sneak peek: Inside the new Tudor’s Biscuit World, opening soon in Lexington

Warm up the butter, breakfast lovers: Tudor’s Biscuit World is getting ready to open its first Lexington store.

And we are bringing you a sneak peek at what they will have.

Tudor’s is aiming to open the new location at 757 East New Circle Rd. the first week of October, said Sam Creviston, one of the co-owners with wife Kristin Tudor Creviston and her brother, Patrick Tudor.

For those unfamiliar with Tudor’s Biscuit World, it’s a family-owned restaurant chain based in Huntington, W.Va., with about 70 locations in West Virginia, Ohio and Eastern Kentucky.

Grandparents Bill and Mae Tudor opened the first one in 1980 and the business flourished. Specializing in breakfast foods, Tudor’s offers a menu of egg-and-meat platters, wraps and a lineup of large biscuit sandwiches.

“If you eat one, you’re normally full,” Patrick Tudor said.

Now they are bringing the biscuits to Central Kentucky.

LexGo Eat broke the news of their plans in late February but the progress on converting the spot, built as a Wendy’s in the 1970s, was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The other two Lexington locations were at 1499 Boardwalk Dr., just off New Circle Rd. and 2575 Nicholasville Rd. On the left side, in the background of the photo is Yates Elementary School. In October the location will become the site of a Tudor’s Biscuit World.

Now the remodeling is almost complete. Already, people are pulling up to see if it is open, which bodes well for a fast-start next month.

“Our slogan is ‘start your day the homemade way.’ We have biscuits and gravy, country ham ... we hand make all of our biscuits every morning, they’re always made fresh. It’s like a homemade breakfast on the go,” Kristin Tudor said. “We want to make our customers feel like family, and feed them as such.”

With names like the Dottie, the Ron, the Mickey and the Mary B, named for some of their loyal customers, the biscuit lineup covers most of the bases. But if biscuits are not your thing, they will do toast as well as wraps.

The owners plan to focus on speed, quality and service, with a streamlined menu available through the drive-thru only for now. The 48-seat dining room will open eventually as well, as the COVID pandemic eases.

“And if it goes well, we will look for places to put more,” Creviston said.

The restaurant near the busy Winchester Road corridor is expected to draw a lot of morning commuters, Creviston said.

For now, this location will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week.

The menu also will include a kids’s menu as well as platters for breakfast, which will be served until closing.

A lunch menu also will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with sandwiches including fried bologna, a cheeseburger and pork barbecue.

There are some vegetarian options, but nothing for vegans really. “We’re definitely not focused on that,” Creviston said. There is a low-carb platter but no gluten-free biscuits.

Customer favorites vary from location, he said, but Creviston said his personal favorite is the loaded shaved ham wrap.

But mostly the chain is all-breakfast, all the time, which apparently sounds like a winner to many in Lexington.

Creviston, who handles Tudor’s social media, said they’d already had a ton of online interest.

As Pat Tudor described the chain, Tudor’s Biscuit World is “a fast-food breakfast joint.”
