New drive-thru coffee chain coming to Central Kentucky with five locations
A new coffee chain is coming to Central Kentucky and it has big plans.
Scooter’s Coffee, founded in 1998 in Nebraska, is planning on adding more than five locations in the area, starting with Winchester.
Franchisee Brian Piening said he is one of three Scooter’s franchise owners who plan to open stores in and around Lexington.
The first location of the drive-thru only coffee shops will be coming to 1988 Bypass Rd. in Winchester, an outlot of Colby Station Shopping Center, at the corner of Bypass Road and Colby Road.
Piening said he hopes that coffee kiosk will open in late spring-early summer.
He also is looking for two locations in Lexington, plus spots in Richmond and Georgetown.
“We’re coming, we’re community-oriented and we’re focused on providing an amazing experience,” he said.
He said Scooter’s, which has no indoor seating, focuses on commuters and people on their way to other destinations.
The menu includes traditional coffee drinks as well as espresso, iced coffee, frozen coffee drinks and teas. It also has a section of eat-on-the-go friendly foods like breakfast sandwiches and burritos, muffins and other pastries.
And there are kid-friendly options too, including smoothies, cake pops and cinnamon rolls.
The company’s slogan is “Amazing people, amazing drinks ... amazingly fast!” and the name Scooter’s comes from their goal of helping people scoot in and scoot out.
The brand has three locations coming soon in Louisville, too.
