A popular Nicholasville restaurant has closed after only a year. But the spot in Brannon Crossing won’t be empty for long.

Gary Holland of One Holland Corp. said that he decided to close the LaRosa’s Family Pizzeria there and put in a First Watch instead.

The last day of business for LaRosa’s was April 3. The new restaurant is expected to open by late summer.

Holland said that the pizza restaurant had been warmly received by Nicholasville but had not performed as well as the other LaRosa’s he operates in Lexington or in Richmond.

“A lot of people had been asking for a First Watch so that’s what we decided to do,” Holland said.

All of the employees of the Brannon Crossing LaRosa’s are still employed, he said, either at other LaRosa’s or are being trained for the new First Watch location.

One Holland operates eight LaRosa’s Family Pizzerias, 11 First Watch restaurants and 13 Skyline Chili restaurants in Ohio and Kentucky. The company also plans to open a LaRosa’s in suburban Louisville next to a new First Watch later this year.
