Lexington foodies, need an excuse to eat out? Thursday, Sept. 15, is the annual Dining Out for Life benefit.

This year 48 restaurants will be donating a minimum of 25 percent of sales to support AVOL Kentucky’s mission to end HIV and support those with HIV/AIDS. You can also make direct donations during the dining event at participating restaurants and bars.

Over the last 30 years, the non-profit has provided $1.1 million in housing assistance for medically vulnerable people, according to a news release.

If you don’t know how this works: You go to a local restaurant or bar that is part of Dining Out for Life and that establishment donates part of their sales. Some businesses do it for one meal, some for all day and some (but not all) include drinks in the mix. You can see which all the options online at dineoutlex.com.
