Korean BBQ, hot pot restaurant in Lexington is finally having a grand opening

A new restaurant open in Lexington offers all you can eat ... in two hours.

But don’t worry, you probably won’t leave hungry.

KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot, which opened in Lexington at 2860 Richmond Rd. behind the First Watch/LaRosa’s and Skyline Chili, offers a popular Asian dining experience: Korean Hot Pot.

The restaurant is having a grand opening on Sunday Nov. 13 from noon to 10:30 p.m., said Robert Garrison, one of the owner/managers.

He said the restaurant had a soft opening about a month ago, and “nobody got the memo,” he said. “We’ve been insanely busy. It’s been go, go, go from the minute the doors opened. We’ve had very positive feedback and we’re very appreciative of that.”

KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot lets a table of diners decide what they want to cook and eat together. The style of cuisine is very popular in Asian and has been picking up new fans in the U.S. as well. The Lexington restaurant is having a grand opening Nov. 13.

What is Korean hot pot?

Typically it’s a communal experience, where a table of diners put a selection of meats, seafood or soy proteins with vegetables, mushrooms and seasonings in boiling water or broth at their table.

It’s also been described as “do-it-yourself ramen.” It is huge in Asia and comes in many variations.

And Lexington has a local Korean restaurant that offers Korean hot pot for two: Arirang Korean BBQ at 109 Mt. Tabor Rd. Other local Korean restaurants include Han Woo Ri on South Limestone, JY Kitchen on Delaware, Koreana Authentic Restaurant on Woodhill Drive and Seki K in DY Market on Clays Mill Road.
