Doughnuts, bagels, cookies: New bakery opens in Lexington’s Meadowthorpe neighborhood
A new shop has opened in Lexington with a “hole” lot for those with a sweet tooth.
And this is a town with a lot of doughnut lovers.
Donut World opened April 15 at 1395 W. Main St., in the former Meadowthorpe neighborhood shopping center location of Mexican, Chinese and at least one Chinese/Mexican restaurant.
Owner Brandon Khum said his family-owned local bakery offers at least 22 different versions of doughnuts, as well as bagels, croissant breakfast sandwiches and smoothies.
The most popular so far menu item? “The white glazed and white cream-filled,” he said. “Well, they’re all popular.”
Duh, it’s fried dough and sugar, what’s not to love?
Besides doughnuts, he also has cinnamon rolls, bear claws, apple fritters, chocolate chip cookies and cream cheese danishes.
Khum, who bakes all the doughnuts daily, has worked in family bakeries for 35 years, he said. This is his first shop on his own.
