Popular downtown Lexington restaurant forced to close soon for repairs. Again.
A downtown Lexington white tablecloth restaurant will be forced to close soon for a second time this year, this time just as dining’s biggest season is about to hit.
La Folie, the elegant French restaurant at 111 Woodland Ave. in The Woodlands building on Main Street, will be closing again for unexpected repairs after more water damage to its floors, according to restaurant owner Carlo Vaccarezza.
The restaurant closed temporarily in June after a pipe burst overnight and damaged flooring. It reopened in late July.
Now, six months later, the fine-dining restaurant will be closing again for repairs after water damage from a Nov. 9 leak in the ceiling. Vaccarezza said the entire floor will need to be replaced.
Vaccarezza clarified on Friday that the restaurant remains open for now as they wait for the insurance company to approve their claim for the flood damage. The repairs could take two months, he said.
The restaurant opened in September 2022, offering a menu of French favorites in a cozy romantic atmosphere. Vaccarezza, who also owns Thoroughbred racehorses, also owns Frank & Dino’s Italian restaurant on West Short Street in downtown Lexington, which remains open and will serve dinner on Thanksgiving.
Vaccarezza also recently opened Damiano Lexington at 503 S. Upper St., serving pizza and pasta, beer and bourbon.
La Folie has a private dining room popular with horse breeders and owners, in Kentucky for the annual November Breeding Stock Sale at Keeneland and Fasig Tipton. The room is also often booked for holiday parties and events.
