North Lime Coffee & Donuts closes a location after six years
A Kentucky doughnut and coffee shop decided to close up a location.
North Lime Coffee & Donuts, which started in Lexington, announced on its social media that shop at 1228 S. Seventh St. in Louisville has closed.
“As of the first of this year we have decided to close down our, much beloved, Old Lou location,” North Lime posted on Jan. 10. “We want to thank our loyal patrons, who loved it as much as we did. Cherished for its beautiful architecture and historical standing, we sadly have to say “goodbye Old Lou” — you will be missed!”
Co-owner Joe Ross said that the year lease on the location was set to expire in February.
The location opened in 2018 and was one of two in Louisville. The Westport Village location at 1301 Herr Lane remains open.
“While the historic building is beautiful, it is very expensive to maintain. As a result, we have decided not to renew the lease,” Ross said in an email. “Our employees have been offered positions at our newest store in Westport Village, and we look forward to continuing to grow in Kentucky as we identify the right locations. Additionally, with the launch of our own coffee roasting, you can now find North Lime Coffee in more places across Kentucky.”
North Lime Coffee & Donuts has two locations in Lexington: 101 W. Loudon Ave. in Greyline Station and 3101 Clays Mill Rd.
