Popular barbecue, rib restaurant chain closes one location in Kentucky after four years

A popular regional barbecue chain has shuttered one of its Central Kentucky locations.

Sonny’s BBQ off U.S. 60 near I-64 in Frankfort has closed after nearly four years.

“The Sonny’s BBQ franchise owner and team members at 141 Bizzack Blvd were honored to be a part of the great Frankfort community for nearly four years,” said Montana Coleman, Sonny’s BBQ spokeswoman, in a statement. “After careful consideration, the franchise owner made the decision to permanently close this location, effective January 5.”

The Sonny’s BBQ in Lexington at 2341 Buena Vista Rd. off Winchester Road and I-75 opened in 2021 as well, just before the Frankfort location.
