New restaurant from James Beard semi-finalist opening this fall in Lexington
A new-to-Kentucky breakfast and brunch restaurant concept from a high-profile restaurateur is coming to a Lexington shopping center.
Cafe Patachou, an Indiana chain founded in 1989 by six-time James Beard semi-finalist Martha Hoover, is opening at The Summit at Fritz Farm at the corner of Nicholasville Road and Man o’ War.
The restaurant calls itself “a student union for adults” and the original in Indianapolis was named one of the “Top Ten Places for Breakfast in the Country” by Bon Appétit magazine and one of Restaurant Hospitality’s Top 25 Coolest Concepts.
There are seven locations in Indiana; this will be the first outside that state.
It’s expected to open in the fall in the former CoreLife Eatery spot at 4040 Finn Way Suite 110, said Anissa Sturgill, marketing manager for the upscale shopping center. CoreLife Eatery closed in April.
Cafe Patachou is an all-day cafe that serves elevated breakfast and lunch dishes such as The Double Major Omelette with Old Major Chorizo, white cheddar, avocado and salsa. Or the Patawich: pork sausage, Swiss cheese, pesto mayo and hard egg on an English muffin.
Coffee and tea drinks are on the menu, as well as beer, wine and brunch-style cocktails available by the glass or the pitcher.
The lunch menu has fresh daily soups, sandwiches, burgers and salads.
There are also vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, as well as bakery items, including whole cakes such as Chocolate Ding Dong Layer Cake.
The restaurant’s hours are typically 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Carryout is available.
Another new tenant is coming to The Summit: Alo Yoga, a premium fashion and lifestyle brand, is also expected to open in September.
This is Alo Yoga’s first Kentucky location, Sturgill said. It will open at 111 Summit at Fritz Farm in the former Draper James and Barrel Market spaces. Draper James closed in February. Barrel Market has moved to a spot next to Honeywood, Sturgill said.
Alo Yoga is known for luxury activewear for women and men, with elevated loungewear as well as accessories, footwear and wellness products.
“Alo represents everything our guests value — style, wellness, and intention,” Sturgill said in a news release. “And with Cafe Patachou’s celebrated take on all-day dining, we’re adding even more vibrancy to our community. We’re beyond excited to welcome both to our curated mix of brands. Whether it’s a weekend brunch, an elevated fitness event, or a summer night out, The Summit will continue to deliver one-of-a-kind experiences.”
Sturgill said with the new tenants, The Summit is at 90% occupancy or higher. Other new arrivals to The Summit, which opened in 2016, in the last year and a half include Brandy Melville, California Closets, Carhartt, Fiabesca’s Luxury Shoes, Half-Moon Outfitters, LensCrafters, Paper Source, Rowan, Schiffman’s Jewelers, Southern Tide and Urgent Vet, as well as SpringHill Suites.
