O’Meally has a background in education and was a preschool teacher before she had the idea to create “a space for families, kind of a home away from home, where they could bring the outdoors inside,” she said.

“That’s where the name came from,” O’Meally said.

The Playground Abode in Lexington will be located at 200 Lexington Green Circle, Suite 190. It will have a large play space with climbing equipment, ball pits, multiple slides, monkey bars, trampolines and other areas, such as a large magnetic wall and a large Lego wall.

There’s also a separate area just for those between ages 1 and 2, with its own ball pit and climbing structures.

The Lexington location will have three party rooms, including a larger one on the mezzanine.

When booked for a party on Saturdays and Sundays, the rest of the playroom will be closed to the public.

When it’s open, parents can make a reservation to bring in children for general play and for special events throughout the year with princess, superheroes and characters such as Bingo and Bluey. O’Meally said she’s also exploring bringing in local crafts and music.
