Late hours are on the menu at this reopened Kentucky fast-food restaurant

A Winchester fast-food restaurant has reopened after being closed for more than a year.

Rally’s, known for its double drive-thru lanes and menu of burgers, hot dogs, french fires and shakes, is open again at 1478 W. Lexington Ave., near the intersection of Bypass Road and Interstate 64.

According to a press release, the franchised location was closed “due to building repairs and operational transitions.”

“This opening marks an important step in bringing Checkers & Rally’s back to the Winchester community,” said Robert Ruggieri, the franchise owner. “We see strong potential in the area and look forward to reintroducing guests to the brand’s bold flavors, value-driven menu, and convenient drive-thru experience.”

The fast-food restaurant held a grand opening ribbon cutting June 5. It will have late hours at the location, staying open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and midnight the rest of the week.

This is the second Central Kentucky Rally’s location to reopen after being closed for more than a year.

A Lexington Rally’s location at 2975 Richmond Road, near Kroger, reopened in March of last year. It had been closed after a devastating fire in September 2023.

Rally’s, Checkers restaurant history

Rally’s and Checkers merged in 1999 to form one burger concept. They operate each restaurant on less than half of an acre, which is half the size of competing drive-thru concepts.

A highlight of the menu is what they call its Famous Seasoned Fries, which can also be purchased in grocery stores.

Rally’s was founded in Louisville but after the merger, the private companies are headquartered in Tampa and have more than 700 locations, mainly in the Midwest, South and eastern United States.
