New Lexington doughnut shop opens with a baker’s dozen of sweet options

A new doughnut shop has opened on Lexington’s east side with more than a dozen sweet options as well as savory treats.

Sunrise Donuts quietly opened July 7 at 565 E. New Circle, next to Brasa’s Peruvian restaurant.

The menu includes many kinds of glazed and iced doughnuts, including cake and “old-fashioned cake,” which has a slight buttermilk flavor. There are twists, long Johns and jelly-filled doughnuts as well as cinnamon rolls, apple fritters and doughnut holes.

Prices range from $1.39 to $1.89 each, depending on the type of doughnut.

Owners Ratana Heng and her husband Narith Chea moved to Lexington for family, but they’ve had a bakery before in southern Oklahoma.

So a few of their menu items bring in flavors from elsewhere. Such as kolaches, which are dough wrapped around meat. They come in cheese or jalapeno and everything. There’s also a boudin version, made with the famous Cajun sausage.

Croissant, biscuit and bagel breakfast sandwiches are also available, along with coffee and bottled drinks.
