Lexington’s first Publix is opening soon. Here’s what you should know.

Publix is coming soon to Lexington, with the first Bluegrass store apparently opening within months.

A grand opening date will be announced soon, according to a news release.

The Florida-based supermarket chain announced that hiring events are being held this month for the new Publix Super Market at 1952 Stockton Way in the Citation Point shopping center.

According to the announcement they will be hiring full-time and part-time employees for all departments.

Interested applicants should fill out an application ahead of time at apply.publix.jobs.

There will be three hiring events, at at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Coldstream at 1801 Newtown Pike:

Jan. 10 and 11, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jan. 24 and 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Publix is also opening a Lexington store in the Fountains of Palomar shopping center at Harrodsburg and Man o’ War.

And a store is expected to be announced in Nicholasville soon.

The Citation Point store, which was announced in April 2023, is about 46,000 square feet, with a separate Publix liquor store.

At the entrance on Citation, there will be a new traffic signal. Fuqua Development of Atlanta, the developer, is installing turn lanes on Citation and Georgetown, as well as new traffic medians. The property also has 12 other smaller lots along the perimeter.

Publix previously opened a store at 2500 Terra Crossing Blvd in Louisville.
