Joann fabrics closing 500 stores after bankruptcy. Which Kentucky locations are included?

Update: As of Feb. 24, 2025, the company has since announced all locations will close. You can read more here.

After filing for bankruptcy for the second time in a year this January, Joann Inc. announced it will close 500 of its fabric stores across the U.S., including several in Kentucky.

“Right-sizing the store footprint is a critical part of the efforts to ensure the best path forward for JOANN,” the company wrote in a Feb. 12 court filing.

The Joann Fabrics store at 125 East Reynolds Road, Suite 110 in Lexington was not listed among the initial closing locations in the court documents.

The company cited inventory shortages as its reason for going into bankruptcy, and if the 500 closures are approved by the court, Joann officials expect going-out-of-business sales to begin Saturday, Feb. 15 and last several months, NBC New York reported Feb. 12.

Including the stores set to close, Joann has about 850 fabric store locations, USA Today reported.
