When will the Publix at Palomar open? Here’s what a company spokesperson is saying
Publix opened its first Lexington location off of Citation Boulevard this week, and some locals are already eager for the opening of a second location at the Fountains of Palomar shopping center at Man O’ War and Harrodsburg Road.
All told, there are at least three Publix stores in the works for Fayette County, including a location in Chevy Chase on Romany Road that will use underground parking.
Publix is also planning to open a location in nearby Nicholasville, and already has a Louisville location.
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding these store openings, but the details from Publix have been murky, raising questions from readers on when the Palomar location, well under construction, will open.
As one reader noted, it was originally planned to the be first Publix location to open in the city, slated for a late 2024 grand opening, the Herald-Leader has previously reported.
Unfortunately, Publix representatives haven’t clarified much. Jared Glover, a Publix spokesperson who represents stores in Kentucky, responded to an emailed query from the Herald-Leader.
“We don’t currently have an opening date to share for that location, but progress is quickly being made and we hope to share an update soon,” Glover wrote March 4.
Glover did not respond to follow-up questions about plans to open the store in 2025 and what might be holding up the opening.
Representatives at the grand opening Wednesday for the store off Citation Boulevard also did not offer new information on the timeline for the second store.
