  • IKEA will open a 4,200 sq ft plan-and-order store in Florence, Kentucky, spring 2026.
  • Location at 7735 Mall Road across from Florence Mall will support in-person design help.
  • Store will offer order pickup and design services, not a full-format store or restaurant.

IKEA, the giant store known for its inexpensive put-it-together-yourself furniture and Swedish meatballs, is inching closer to Lexington.

However, it won’t be a large format with an in-store restaurant like the one in West Chester, Ohio. So ... no Swedish meatballs.

The home furnishing store will open a new smaller format store in Florence in spring 2026. IKEA recently opened similar formats inside some Best Buy stores in Florida and Texas.

The 4,200-square-foot store will be in Florence Square shopping center at 7735 Mall Road, across from Florence Mall.

The Northern Kentucky store will be a plan-and-order store, according to a news release.

“I’m beyond excited to welcome customers to our new Plan and order point in Florence next Spring. This new store location is perfect for customers who are looking to purchase affordable home furnishings, plan new design projects, and create a home they love,” Susan Blackstock, IKEA market manager, said in a news release. “IKEA Florence brings our signature design solutions to the Cincinnati community — making it more accessible, more convenient, and of course, more affordable.”

The store will offer in-person access to design help and a location to pick up orders. Customers can meet with the IKEA store team to plan and order furnishing solutions for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and more. Same-day pick-up will not be available; all orders will need to be placed in advance.

Online IKEA shoppers also can select the Florence location for pick-up of qualifying orders instead of driving to West Chester.

The West Chester store opened in 2008 and was the first IKEA in the Cincinnati market.
