New Lexington (and Richmond) restaurants: Chick-fil-A, pizza, lots of Mexican
Lexington is welcoming new restaurants all the time, including lots of new locations for expanding establishments.
Here are several new places to try around town and all are already open.
Papi’s Mexican Restaurant & Bar
This popular Lexington restaurant chain opened its fourth location Nov. 5 at 1988 Stockton Way, in the shopping center of the Publix off of Citation Boulevard.
It has the same great menu as the locations of Papi’s Mexican Restaurant and Bar on Euclid Avenue and at the Fountains of Palomar off Harrodsburg Road, with a round bar right in the middle of the restaurant. There is also a Papi’s Rapido on South Broadway that specializes in to-go orders (now including birria tacos!).
Owner Marcos Valdez said the new restaurant is about 4,200 square feet, a little bigger than the Palomar location, and has seating for 200.
There’s also a patio with lots of outdoor seating.
Papi’s is open for lunch and dinner, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Viva Mexico Mexican Cuisine
Another popular Lexington Mexican restaurant has expanded in Central Kentucky: Viva Mexico has added a Richmond location to its two in Lexington.
The new location, which opened Oct. 20, is at 2187 Lexington Rd. Suite A7, Richmond, Ky. It is open daily 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
It has the same menu of authentic and Tex-Mex favorites as the Lexington locations at 2573 Richmond Road, Suite 170, and at 400 Old Vine St., Suite 10B.
Marco’s Pizza
Marco’s Pizza, a counter-serve chain that has a menu of specialty and custom pizzas for takeout or delivery, recently opened a new Lexington location at 2051 Richmond Road.
There had been a location on Locust Hill, but it has closed, as has one on Nicholasville Road.
The menu offers pizzas, pizzoli (stuffed pizza rolls), pizza bowls (crustless pizzas), calzones, subs, breads, wings, salads, desserts and more.
Marco’s Pizza is open daily 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. for pickup and 10 am to 10 p.m. for delivery.
Chick-fil-A
The Chick-fil-A in Hamburg has finally reopened. The location at 1863 Plaudit Place closed earlier this year, and the building was demolished in late May for renovations.
The new version, which opened Nov. 6, has a two-lane drive-thru with a mobile thru lane, and a 5,586-square-foot dining room, which is larger than the old location. There’s a playground, too.
