UK pep rally coming to Limestone on Friday
Local merchants on the renovated Limestone Street in Lexington have obtained permission to close the streets from 7-10 p.m. Friday for a University of Kentucky football pep rally.
The first-ever "Rally Time on Lime" street celebration will take place in the area between Avenue of Champions and Maxwell Street and will feature appearances by the UK band, assistant coaches Andre Woodson and Glen Holt, and the UK cheerleaders and dance team.
"We want to do everything we can do to support UK football, and a fun outdoor rally on the street where fans can gather and enjoy a fun Friday night could become a new Wildcat tradition," Pazzo's restaurant owner Tom Behr said in a news release.
Limestone Street, in the designated two-block stretch, will be closed to traffic from 6-11 p.m. Participating restaurants will be offering food and drink specials throughout the night.
