Fayette County reports six new COVID-19 cases, bringing total to 116
The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported six new cases of novel coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to 116.
There have been two deaths in Fayette County from the coronavirus. Both patients were in their 80s, health officials have previously said.
About 22 percent — or about 25 patients — recovered from the respiratory illness and were no longer in isolation, the health department said Wednesday.
The six new cases confirmed Wednesday were much fewer than the 17 new cases on Tuesday and 19 new cases on Monday.
“It’s too soon to say if that’s a sign of improvement,” said Kevin Hall, a spokesman for the health department.
The department has found three clusters of cases in Fayette County, and one of those clusters was a St. Patrick’s Day party that resulted in six people testing positive for the disease.
Health officials have said they could not provide more details on the other two clusters.
On Tuesday, Kentucky reported 594 coronavirus cases statewide and 17 deaths.
